Ardox-X® is a stabilized active oxygen donating complex that provides a controlled release of non-radical, anionic oxygen species to treat oral infections and other oral issues. Unlike traditional oxygen donors like hydrogen peroxide, it releases active oxygen without creating damaging free radicals, making it safe for long-term use without harming DNA or mucosal cells. The mechanism of active oxygen involves several stages of interaction with the oral environment and pathogenic bacteria:
Our complex is disrupted upon contact with the mucosa, saliva, or specific enzymes, triggering a gradual release of active oxygen.
Because it does not generate free radicals, it is not cytotoxic and does not cause cell death in mucosal cells, osteoblasts (bone-building cells), or blood cells.
Ardox-X® works by oxidizing proteins within the dental biofilm, which increases the penetrability of the biofilm. This allows the oxygen to reach bacteria deep within gingival pockets that large molecules (like antibiotics or chlorhexidine) often cannot reach.
Our Ardox-X® technology selectively inhibits harmful anaerobic Gram-negative bacteria by destroying their cell walls and depriving them of their nutrition base. Remarkably, it is less effective against beneficial Gram-positive bacteria like streptococci and lactobacilli, helping to maintain a healthy oral microbiome balance.
Ardoz develops and produces toothpaste for day-to-day oral care based on our active oxygen complex. It contains fluoride and is also pH neutral. Our R&D department can develop different formulas for different applications.
We can deliver several mouth rinses with standard and higher level of active oxygen. These rinses do not contain alcohol, are pH neutral and contain fluoride. The higher level of active oxygen rinses are Medical Class 2A
As active oxygen also has a whitening effect, Ardoz has developed a whitening pen that contains active oxygen that whitens the teeth up to 5 shades. This pen does not contain harmful peroxide and is gentle on the gums and enamel.
For the dental professional we produce a special high concentrated gel that can be applied during the placement of dental implants. The gel does not contain chlorhexidine or antibiotics. The gel is applied through a 1 ml syringe. It reduces the pocket depth, disinfects the pocket and accelerates wound healing. After the surgery the patient can rinse with the active oxygen mouthrinse.
Ardoz has developed and produces a special toothpaste for the aftercare of dental implants. This toothpaste has been specially developed for everyone with dental implants and is essential for maintaining proper hygiene. It contains Ardox-X, lactoferrin, a low level of fluoride and is very low abrasive.
It is used as an adjunctive treatment to reduce deep pocket depths and eliminate subgingival pathogens. Studies showed a 56% average reduction in pocket depth after three months of treatment.
This is an inflammatory condition around dental implants. Active oxygen helps reduce biofilm on rough implant surfaces and can even promote re-osseointegration (bone formation around the implant).
The technology is used in toothpastes and gels for daily oral care to prevent and treat gum inflammation.
(Oral Malodour): Active oxygen is highly effective at neutralizing volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) in the oral cavity for up to six hours, outperforming some standard chlorhexidine rinses.
It effectively bleaches tooth discolorations through oxidative transformation without the sensitivity or DNA damage associated with high-concentration peroxide treatments.
It can be used to inhibit Mutans streptococci, which are responsible for initial caries or “white spots” often seen during orthodontic treatment.
The technology has also been noted for its effectiveness in treating non-dental conditions like oral mucositis, chronic wounds (especially in diabetes patients), and fungal infections like onychomycosis.
